Hugh Burkhart is a Canadian-American writer born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. His short stories have appeared in Valparaiso Fiction Review, The Los Angeles Review, Glimmer Train, The Cortland Review, BULL, and elsewhere. His detective novel All That is the Case was a 2024 Killer Nashville Claymore Award Finalist and a Runner-Up for Retreat West’s 2022 First Chapter Competition.
In 2020, his novel Customer Service was a Finalist for Hidden River Arts’ Blue Mountain Novel Award. He has also received an Honorable Mention and been a Finalist for Glimmer Train’s Fiction Open Contest.
He holds a master’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Windsor and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. He lives with his wife and son in San Diego, where he works as an academic librarian.
